2009 3-DAY CRICKET FESTIVAL
This summer's annual 3-Day Cricket
Festival was another roaring success for the club and the children who
attended.
This is the fifth year of this event where the club coaches offer children
the opportunity to learn and practice cricket skills. The large marquee was
put to use at lunchtimes and for a quiz on Tuesday morning when the weather
was a little inclement.
There were other educational activities including inputs from HMP Whitemoor,
Cambridgeshire Fire Service, Cambridgeshire Police as well as other sports
coaches. Wednesday was "Fun Day” with numerous bouncy castles.
Over 100 boys and girls aged between 7 and 12 years attended the festival
and
on the Wednesday evening all the children returned with their parents to
enjoy the presentation evening where numerous hot dogs were consumed.
Everyone received a goody bag which included pencils, eraser, tennis ball,
attendance certificate, a medal and a Fenmarc baseball cap.
The main sponsor for the event was Mrs Kate Hunt with support from Bob
Terry, Cliff Pearce, Fenmarc, HMP Whitemoor, Cambridgeshire Cricket Board
and the Fenland District Council.
March Town Cricket Club chairman Les Mills said: ”The organising
sub-committee arranged the event in conjunction with the three main coaches
- Bill Adamson, Steve Seymour and Stuart Mills. Andrew Mills and Roz English
also completed hours of administration work. Everyone's hard work,
organisation skills and enthusiasm ensured the 3-Day Festival was very
successful. I would like to thank all the other assistant coaches, helpers,
St John's Ambulance staff, Mandy Haslegrave and her tea ladies, who over the
three days ensured all the children had a great time”.
