The
4th Xl are hovering just above the drop zone in CCA Junior League Division 5A,
following a 94-run defeat away to Witcham 2nd Xl.
Manuj Patel picked up 3-24
during his fine 10 over spell, as
the home side made 218-6. But in reply only skipper Bill Hilliard (40no) put up any
resistance in the 124 all out total. He eventually came in at No7 after the loss
of three wickets inside the first six overs.
Patel chipped in with 15 runs and teenager Brett Tinnion

An
outstanding all-round display from Manuj Patel helped the 4th Xl to a welcomed
two wicket CCA Junior League Division 5A victory over Witcham 2nd Xl, at the
Neale Wade.
He helped bowl the visitors
out for 144-7 with his 4-15 spell and then followed that up with a dazzling 82
in the 146-8 reply...against a side who hammered them by 94 runs just a
fortnight ago!
Five of Patel's 10 overs were maidens, with vice-skipper James Shepherd
picking up two wickets in the side's first home game of the season.
But in
reply March found themselves 18-4 off just six overs - with both openers
departing without troubling the scorers. Patel came in at No5 and together
with skipper Bill Hilliard they put on 95 for the fifth wicket. The
all-rounder hit 14 boundaries, including one 'six', with Hilliard scoring
21.
And with Steve Impey chipping in with an unbeaten 18, the winning runs
came off just 30.4 overs. What's more the 20 points puts the team
level-pegging with Witcham in second position.

The 4th Xl dodged the showers to inflict the first defeat of the season upon CCA
Junior League Division 5A leaders, Sutton 2nd Xl.
Opening batsman Dennis Furnell top scored for the visitors with 26 in their
130-8 total. He was backed up by Manuj Patel's 20 and an unbeaten 19 from
skipper Bill Hilliard.
After a steady start, the home side faltered against the
bowling of
Lewis Hilliard (4-25) and Manuj Patel (3-22), who removed them for just an
85 run total.

After two troubled seasons things are finally going the 4th Xl's way, as they
beat Willingham 2nd Xl by a comfortable seven wickets at the Neale Wade, in CCA
Junior League Division 5A.
Six wickets from vice-skipper
James Shepherd but the skids under the visitors, who crashed to 71 all out.
The left-armer picked up a season best 6-21, with former skipper skipper Glen
Hulley chipping in with 2-22.
Marcus Kirby top-scored with 25 not out in the 74-3 reply,
with Dennis Furnell making 14 at the top of the order.
