Dennis Furnell is in the form of his life - his
93 the highlight of yet another tense local derby, this time between the 4th Xl
and their Wisbech counterparts.
You certainly wouldn't have placed too much
money on relegation-threatened March denting runaway leaders Wisbech's 100 per
cent record in CCA Junior League Division 4A, as the game ended in a tie with
three balls remaining.
Wisbech totalled 230-5 and March replied with 230 all
out.
Furnell, who the previous week struck 47 runs in the first victory of the
season, smashed his way to just seven short of a century. He figured in two good
partnerships - firstly with fellow opener James Hilliard (33) and then with
young Ashley Impey (30).
But once Furnell had departed, Wisbech made massive inroads into the March
batting with Matt Duff taking a five wicket haul at the death.
Earlier, 15year-old Toby Nulty was the pick of the home attack, taking 3-49
from an impressive 10 over spell.
