4th Xl v Cherry Hinton 2nd Xl
Saturday, September 5, 2009
defeat at the hands of league
runners-up Cherry Hinton 2nd Xl.
The visitors ran up a 208 total despite the
efforts of James Bereford (4-44) and Greg Short (3-25), who helped reduce
the strong visiting side to 84-5 at one stage.
But after tea only regular second team
batsman Jake Miller (43) got to grips with the Cherry Hinton bowling as the
4th Xl were dismissed for 105. Opener Dennis Furnell chipped in with 18 runs
and Daniel Woods with 12. No one else made double figures.
The 4th Xl have been
relegated, having spent only the one season in CCA Junior League 3B.
Without the services of
last year's young talisman Lewis Hilliard, who is forging a career in pro
football, it was always going to be a struggle.
Making a rare appearance at The Avenue the
fourth team suffered a heavy 103-run
