Skipper John Wallis hit an unbeaten 82 - his highest score of
the season - as the 2nd Xl clinched the runners-up spot in CCA Senior League
Division 1 by beating relegated Bluntisham by 47 runs.
Wallis and Dan
Martell (26) put on 65 for the third wicket, having come together with the March
total on 32-2.
Wallis, who on the same
day last season was celebrating his side's promotion from Division 2, hit 11
boundaries, including a 'six' during his long stay at the crease.
Richard Green
again supplied a valuable 20 in the 201-6 total. The off-spinner then picked up
a 4-27 haul, with Callum Young taking
3-19 in the home side's all out total of 154.
Opening bowler Young,
again bowled well during an 8.1 spell, with James Harradine chipping in with
2-48 at the end.

James Harradine continued his prolific batting form in the 2nd
Xl with a blistering 85 not out, as the Saturday side's season ended with a
three wicket friendly win at Godolphin.
The March
opener's unbeaten knock was the highlight of the afternoon in the
163-7 reply. He hit 11 boundaries, including five 'sixes'. Richard Green weighed
in with 19 and Toby Nulty 18.
Early, teenager
Nulty had taken 2-11, with Stuart Arnold and Dave Tufnail both picking up three
wicket hauls in Godolphin's 160 all out. Arnold
finished with figures of 3-27 and Tufnail 3-22 off just four overs.
At the end of the match,
skipper John Wallis, who has guided the team for the majority of the past 11
years from Junior League 2A to
Senior League Division 1 runners-up, announced he would be handing over the
reins at January's AGM.

The
2nd Xl gave themselves a chance to defend the Ernie
Wool Trophy next Sunday by defeating Somersham by
seven wickets wickets on Sunday.
After
inserting the home side, March took early control of
the game thanks to early wickets and reduced
Somersham to 56-6, although they recovered to 131
all out.
Sunday new boy, James Shepherd led the wickets with
3-28, while Toby Nulty, David Haslegrave and Jacob
Gray all took a brace each. Opening bowler Sam
Mason bowled an economical six over spell of 1-17.
The
visitors never looked troubled in their victory
chase and young openers Jake Beart 28 and Toby Nulty
with a composed 38 added 64 for the first wicket.
Thereafter the excellent strokeplay of David
Haslegrave 37 not out saw March home to victory and
the chance to defend their trophy against Wisbech
next Sunday (September 18).
